Iowa’s racing roots run deep – home to more racetracks per capita than any other state and the second-highest number of registered race drivers nationwide.

From dirt tracks to drag strips, Iowa’s racing legacy has been fueled by passionate drivers, teams, owners, builders, promoters, sponsors, and the fans who never miss a lap.

On April 5th, 2025, the Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum opened its new location in Algona, offering a larger, more permanent space for its growing collection of memorabilia and stories. This move marks an exciting chapter—providing a central hub where racing fans from across the Midwest and beyond can explore, connect, and relive the history of Iowa motorsports.

Now housed alongside the Kossuth County Ag & Motorsports Museum, this partnership creates a dynamic destination that celebrates not only the legends of Iowa racing but also the communities and industries that shaped them. Visitors can enjoy a more comprehensive experience—whether they’re long-time race fans or new to the sport.

Before finding a permanent home, the museum operated out of Otho, Iowa, where it welcomed guests from four countries, 18 states, and over 100 Iowa towns, all through word-of-mouth. That overwhelming support confirmed what founders Marty and Nancy Pringle knew all along: Iowa’s racing story is one worth preserving. From hosting annual reunions to sharing decades of memorabilia, the spirit of that original site lives on, revved up and ready to inspire a new generation of racing enthusiasts.
